Loukas was  an Early Christian  who is mostly known as the author of the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. He is considered one of the Four Evangelists and was the companion of St Paul.

Loukas was from Antiocheia of Syria, but he was Greek. He was a doctor and a painter. According to the Church, the first icons of Virgin Mary with baby Jesus are made by Loukas. He was introduced to  the Christian religion by Apostle Paul with whom they met in Thebes Greece. He later went to Italy, France, Achaia, Boeotia and more.

It is said that Saint Loukas suffered a torturous death and in 357BC his corps was transfered to Constantinople at the Temple of the Apostles.
